Industry Survey Report on System Level – Direct PIN ESD (SL-DPE)

Abstract

Industry Council on ESD Target Levels has performed a survey on system level direct pin ESD from April 2024 to August 2024. A read-out report of the survey has recently been prepared (see below)). It provides an industry overview of the usage and the techniques of direct pin ESD stress testing as stress test of system connector pins. The application of this system stress testing extends over a wide range of industries both of IC manufacturers and system integrators. While IEC 61000-4-2 generators are mostly used, there is in general a lack of aligned test procedures and test targets. Industry Council on ESD Targets Level is currently evaluating the drafting of a White Paper to support the alignment of test approaches and targets. This requires the broader participation of industry experts who are applying or requesting system level direct pin ESD testing.
